Liebster Award 2017

Today I have really great news to share, EXCELLENT news even. I got nominated! Yes, that’s right. For the Liebster Award. A blog award, my first and I am not understating when saying that I am going freaking bananas about it!

This blog takes a lot of time, more effort and a very big chunk of commitment, especially in moments when suspecting that the only ones reading it are fellow bloggers who are paying back a favour or people that are somehow related to me. In this context, this nomination means the world to me, really and I feel honoured and proud and most of all: accepted! Thank you  so much Sara and Nacho from I do what I want to for considering and nominating me.

In a few words – what is this Liebster Award?

The Liebster Award has it’s roots within the German blogger scene (Liebster means “dearest”, “favorite” in German) and is a way to recognise new bloggers for their achievements and efforts. A Liebster Award Nomination functions as well as support, it’s aimed to connect bloggers, helps to build a network and most important  it can help you to find new interesting blogs.

It works under the “pass it on” principle, similar to a chain letter but in nice and not annoying. When a blogger receives a Liebster Award nomination, they will nominates some fellow bloggers, who will then nominate some bloggers  and so on and so forth.

Besides getting the chance to introduce yourself to your fellow bloggers, you get as well the possibility to share some fun facts about you that are not in the about us section . A center piece of the Liebster Award is to answer 11 Questions, share some random 11 facts and to ask 11 Questions to the Bloggers you nominate.

11 Questions

and here we go; Sara and Nacho from I do what I want to asked the following questions:

What does travel mean to you? Most of all that having kids and an pretending to be an adult does not mean that you have to pass on the cool stuff. It’s maybe lame but I want to proof that parenthood is nothing that defines your life and everything in it, you are still the same person and that means that you can have great vacation as a couple or alone – even though you have kids – and that you can have great vacation even though you have kid.
What was the funniest story that happened to you while traveling? When travelling with kids, there are SO many funny moments (and some are borderline to super annoying) but I think one of the funniest was actually when I celebrated my 30th birthday in a hostel in Ayutthaya/Thailand (without kids!), at least the parts I remember are hilarious.
How would you define a perfect vacation? A mix between coming around and coming down (like when traveling to and through Bretagne), between family time, couple time and alone time and preferable with good weather.
What was the most embarrassing moment you’ve experienced while traveling? Honestly, it takes a lot for me to be embarrassed and the situations that are coming to my mind right now can’t be told in public. Ever.
Did blogging change your way of traveling? If so, how?  Yes and no. No because I started travelling way before blogging and yes because omg all those destinations!!! The exchange with other bloggers is really inspiring and shows what is possible!
Which three countries are you willing to go next? Portugal, Iceland and Costa Rica. One is booked, one is certain and one is a maybe 🙂
Is there a place you wouldn’t go back? If so, why? Los Angeles. Even though I liked some parts like Santa Monica, the Hollywood Hills and Venice Beach, but overall I am cured.
Share the story of someone amazing you’ve met while traveling. Thats an easy one: the French guy who I met in a Hostel in New York City, who made me move to France, is the father of my first son and who is now my best friend.
What amazing food/dish have you encountered in your travels? and thats a tough one. We always try to find original and/or local specialties to please our inner foodie and Thailand has a big plus in this regards.. but we just had the most awesome Hawaiian Asian Food in San Francisco and when I think about the Tapas in Barcelona, I want to go back immediately..
What was the best experience you’ve had and where was it? The best experience by far was to realise that kids are not at all a showstopper when wanting to travel or having a good time in general, you can do as good as everything you did before and everyone who says the opposite is simply wrong 🙂 And I realised it when road tripping through Canada.
What are you doing to grow your blog?  The usual, I think: spamming my friends on social media and considering bribes as an option, engaging with fellow bloggers, trying  to write good content and getting nominated for the Liebster Award as you do!
